Mahler (1860-1911)
Description:
Tomáš Netopil was born in the Czech Republic in 1975 and studied conducting with Jorma Panula at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Stockholm. In 2002, he won the first prize at the first Georg Solti Conducting Competition in Frankfurt, and after serving as Music Director of the Prague National Theater, he has been Music Director of the Essen Philharmonic Orchestra since 2013/2014. In 2013/2014, he became the Music Director of the Essen Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to his expertise in Czech works by Janacek and Dvořák, Netopil also has a basic repertoire of German and Austrian works in his hands. In this performance of Mahler's 9th Symphony No. 9, Netpil succeeds in vividly portraying the state of mind Mahler reached in his later years, creating a beautiful music with intense emotional expression.
