Description:
French conductor Louis Fremaux (August 13, 1921-) was commissioned by King Rainier III to serve as chief conductor of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo from 1956 to 1965, and from 1969 to 1971 as the first music director of the Orchestre Philharmonique Rhône-Alpes (now the Orchestre National de Lyon). From 1969 to 1971, he was the first music director of the Orchestre Philharmonique Rhône-Alpes (now Orchestre National de Lyon). At the same time, he became the Music Director of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra from 1969 to 1978. After witnessing the orchestra's rise to prominence, he turned the role over to Simon Rattle. He then served as Principal Conductor of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra until 1982. In the history of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, no other British orchestra has performed French music so actively, and Rattle praised the orchestra as "the best French music orchestra in the world.Frémaux made his first recording of Jean Gilles' Requiem for Erato in 1956, and since then has made numerous recordings of French Baroque works, all of which have been remastered from the original master tapes at 24bit/96kHz All recordings have been remastered at 24bit/96kHz from the original master tapes.
