The Symphony No. 1, completed in 1942 in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, and dedicated to the Red Army, was composed for harpsichord and string orchestra in 1964 and dedicated to Barshai. The other is \"Symphony No. 7,\" which was composed in 1964 for harpsichord and strings and dedicated to Barshai. The two works, \"Symphony No. 1\" composed in his youth when he fled to Russia to escape the Nazi invasion of Poland and the persecution of Jews, and \"Symphony No. 7\" composed after overcoming the difficulties of Zidanov's criticism and anti-Semitism, illustrate the flow of history and Weinberg's own changes.
