These two albums were Seiji Ozawa's memorable first commercial recordings.This first SACD reissue is the first time in a long time since the first CD release as a Tower Records Victor Heritage Collection disc in 2008. Seiji Ozawa left for France in February 1959 at the age of 23. He won the Besançon International Conducting Competition in September of the same year, became the Assistant Conductor of the New York Philharmonic in February 1961, accompanied Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic on their tour of Japan in April of the same year, and returned to Japan after a two-year and two-month absence.
