Seitz, active in the German Romantic period from around 1848, is best known as the composer of eleven "concertos" for beginners, but even though they are intended for students, they are all highly listenable works with short cadenzas. Of course, bowing, staccato, double-stops, trills, and other techniques are incorporated throughout the pieces, so that students can acquire violin technique just by completing one piece. The piano part is also well designed, with a beautiful melody that complements the violin. Hyejin Chung and Warren Lee, who also gave a wonderful performance on the first album (8.573801), perform this duet in perfect harmony. Naxos Japan
