The Beautiful Water Mill Girl was recorded live at the Théâtre de Ratheny in Paris. The singer is Thomas Olliemans, a baritone from the Netherlands. He studied singing under Margreet Hornik at the Amsterdam Conservatory and was trained by Fischer-Dieskau and other great singers before making his debut as Papageno at the Dutch National Opera. Since then, he has appeared regularly at this opera house as well as giving recitals around Europe, and in 2011 he visited Japan to sing "Winter Journey" at the Musashino Civic Cultural Center to great acclaim. This 2019 show is a perfect one to hear him "now". The performance is not only youthful, but also shows maturity. Naxos Japan
