Description:

Like many Jewish composers of his generation, Vinterberg was persecuted by the Nazi regime and was detained for a time in Theresienstadt, but fortunately he survived and lived a long life, almost 90 years. He was not much interested in the twelve-tone technique and basically adhered to the neoclassical style, and his works are all very accessible, with a touch of Martineau and Poulenc. This album features four of his many chamber works, all of which are rhythmic and humorous. All of them have a rhythmical and humorous tone. The "Suite for Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, and Harpsichord," composed in 1959, is performed in two versions, one for harpsichord and one for piano, allowing the listener to enjoy the differences in sound.
