Ryutaro Suzuki

Description:

Transparent and beautiful touch. Paris-based Ryutaro Suzuki's second album features Debussy, Ibert, and Naotada Otaka! Up-and-coming pianist Ryutaro Suzuki is based in Paris. His debut album "Scarlatti|Ravel|Mozart|Liszt" (KKC 5891 / G50001) has been well received. Ryutaro Suzuki, born in Kamakura in 1990, graduated from Eikogakuen High School in 2008, and went to France to study at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse Bleu in Paris. He studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris under Bruno Rigut, Hortense Cartier-Bresson, Michel Dalbert, and Michel Beloff. He then studied under Eliso Vilsalase in Florence, Italy, and is currently based in Paris. He is one of the most promising pianists in the world today, having won first prize at the Ile-de-France International Piano Competition in 2015, second prize at the Campillos International Piano Competition, second prize at the Emile Ghirellis International Piano Competition, second prize at the 2017 Valtidone International Music Competition, and many other international competitions. The title of the CD, "What the East Wind Saw," refers to Ryutaro Suzuki's arrival in the West from Japan, and is a play on the title of "What the West Wind Saw" from Debussy's Prelude. Debussy's Island of Delights is a work of flamboyant pianism and daring expression. The prelude collection consists of two volumes, and this recording includes the 12 pieces from the first volume. This is a collection of exotic pieces inspired by dances from around the world. Ibert's representative piano piece, "Stories," is a collection of 10 pieces. It is a collection of works rich in character that expresses, in Ibert's own words, folktales and impressions from his travels in the Middle and Near East and Western Europe. Naotada Otaka's "Japanese Suite" is a collection of four pieces composed as a piano suite for submission to the Academy of Music in Vienna. Two pieces, "In the Morning" and "Matsuri" are included in this recording. The performance, backed up by solid technique, is a masterpiece that shows the current state of Ryutaro Suzuki, who has studied in Europe, and expands the unique world that Ryutaro Suzuki has depicted through these three composers.
