Carmen" with marimba & percussion--an unknown acoustic experience! Here comes the second solo album from Sony Classical by the "Wave Quartet," a rare marimba & percussion quartet. Their debut release, a 2017 collection of Bach's harpsichord concertos, was highly acclaimed for its "enchanting and meditative time carried ... the brevity of their playing is something special. On this album, too, they bring out entirely new sounds from previously known works. The first is a ballet version of Bizet's opera "Carmen" arranged by Sichedrin for strings, four percussion groups, and timpani, and further arranged for four marimbas and percussion. And very popular songs by Ed Sheeran, Sting (Police), and Suzanne Vega. Finally, an arrangement of a piece by Israeli composer Avner Dolman. Member Eimiko Uchiyama arranged the music for this album, which showcases the performance of the marimba. Bogdan Bacanu says, "The mix of opera, pop music, and classical with percussion reflects our musical identity. In 2008, at the call of Bokdan Bakanu (Austria), who is active worldwide as a soloist, teaches courses at the Anton Bruckner University and Mozarteum University in Austria, and is highly regarded as the general conductor of the International Marimba Festival, The group was formed by Eimiko Uchiyama (Japan), Christoph Sitzen (Luxembourg), and Vladimir Petrov (Bulgaria), all of whom have received high acclaim for their performances at various music festivals in Europe. After a spectacular debut at the Konzerthaus Berlin, the holy land of music, the group has been invited to perform at music festivals and concerts throughout Europe and Asia one after another. She has performed at the Salzburg Festival, International Percussion Festival (China, Spain, Portugal, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary), Adams Percussion Festival (Netherlands), World Marimba Festival (Germany, Austria), and many others.
