Although their introduction to Japan was long overdue, they made their first visit in 2017 after Heinz Holliger specifically requested them for a performance of his own work, declaring, “It has to be this choir!” Their extraordinary technique and masterful ensemble playing created a sensation among the audience. More recently, they released a collection of John Cage’s choral works on the ONDINE label, showcasing their exceptional technique and artistry and earning high acclaim. On this disc, they step away from contemporary music to tackle Bruckner’s motets, demonstrating the beauty of traditional European church music and the high caliber of their performance as an orthodox choir.\nSeveral pieces on this album—including the Kronsdorf Mass—were written during the period up to Bruckner’s age of about 40, when he was active as an organist and choral conductor in St. Florian and Linz; the composer himself considered them “immature works” and refrained from publishing them. As a result, these works rarely had the opportunity to be performed; however, their true value has been recognized in recent years, and they are now being performed more frequently. Each piece possesses a beauty that conveys the devout religious spirit characteristic of Bruckner.\n\nThe Japanese edition includes Japanese translations of the lyrics and a Japanese commentary by Yutaro Ishihara (musicologist and member of the International Bruckner Society).\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Ondine","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53595607630113,"sku":"4589538783747","price":210.0,"currency_code":"HKD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4589538783747.jpg?v=1790481900","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-hk\/products\/4589538783747","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
