John Beasley is a jazz pianist, arranger, and producer born in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1958. He learned piano, guitar, saxophone, trumpet, and oboe in his teens. In the 70's, he was based in L.A. and played in various bands such as Sergio Mendes, Freddie Hubbard, Dianne Reeves, Steely Dan, Chaka Khan, and many others. In 1992, he made his solo debut with \"Cauldron\" on Windham Hill.Since then, he has released more than 10 albums, including \"Letter To Herbie\" (2008), \"Positootly\" (2009), and an album with the big band Monkestra, for which he received 12 Grammy nominations and won twice. He has also composed music for TV shows such as \"Star Trek\" and films such as \"The Shawshank Redemption\" and the 007 series.
