He wrote music for films such as \"The Long Arm\" and \"Terror in the Black Museum. This album features four of his works. Man in the Sky is a concert overture composed by Schulman for the film of the same name. The Piano Concerto is in two movements, the first fast and technical, the second more meditative in character. It was composed for the renowned pianist John Ogdon and premiered in November 1973. Romancing the Strings is a set of six short variations on a theme from Shulman's original music for the Disney film Dr. Syn - Alias the Scarecrow (The Maboroshi Smugglers).The last piece on the album is \"Gaudiana,\" a symphonic exercise for orchestra inspired by the work of Catalan architect Gaudi. Playing piano in the concerto is Chinese-born pianist Wang Shine, who now lives and works in the United States. His recordings have been highly acclaimed by Gramophone magazine, BBC Music Magazine, and others.
