Piano sonatas by Dushek (Dusik) and Wölfle played by Natasha Velikovic, a pianist who specializes in early Viennese classical works. Jan Ladislav Dushek was a Bohemian-born pianist and composer who later established his career in England. He was a close friend of instrument maker John Broadwood and is said to have been one of the first to attempt to expand the instrument's capabilities and "make the piano sing." He wrote 17 piano concertos and some 35 piano sonatas, all in a classical form reminiscent of Clementi's works. Joseph Wölfle was born in Salzburg. He studied music with Leopold Mozart and Michael Haydn and became a pianist, but his popularity fell after he "dueled" with Beethoven at the piano in 1799 and lost, and his popularity declined, so he went to Paris and lived a second life in London from 1805 He was to live a second life in Paris and then in London from 1805.
