This is a collection of works with a strong folkloric flavor, from 19th and 20th century Eastern Europe through 20th century Russia to contemporary Japan. The ephemeral yet beautiful sound world evokes nostalgia, longing, and remembrance, as well as longing and a sense of the future. Medjieva, a Russian-born musician based in Japan, depicts nostalgia that transcends time and space with a delicate yet powerful touch. The instrument used is a 1922 Steinway (made in New York). It is a famous instrument that combines a mellow tone reminiscent of the good old days with a modern and dynamic power. In addition to a preface by Ikuo Kameyama (Russian literature scholar), the booklet also includes a newly written essay by Medjieva herself. From the liner notes, "What could be more appropriate than to immerse oneself unselfishly in a pianist's boundless compassion for sound at this moment, this time, and this moment, an act worthy of the name "requiem"?
