The 19th collection of cantatas by the orchestra and choir of the Bach Foundation in St. Gallen. Cantata BWV 48 for the 19th Sunday after the Trinity is a work about the "forgiveness of sins" by Jesus. The alto and tenor solos and chorus depict the process of redemption and the trust in Jesus. The 25th Sunday after Trinity, BWV 90, is a dramatic work that depicts the "apocalypse" and salvation, reminiscent of the Book of Revelation. From the first aria, the intense orchestral section is ear-piercing. The trumpet frenzy in the third piece is also a treat to hear. BWV 131, with Luther's chorale "From the Deep End," is a cantata composed at the request of Aylmer, pastor of St. Mary's Church in Mühlhausen, and is said to have been written for the repose of a great fire that broke out in the area in 1707.
