The "John Passion" by Bach (1685-1750) is the third performance by Peter Dijkstra and Concerto Cologne on the BR KLASSIK label. The previous "Matthew Passion" (900508), Handel's "The Israelites in Egypt" (900501), and Handel's "Dixit Dominus" (900504) were all highly acclaimed for the austere sound of the ancient instrument orchestra, the perfect chorus, and above all, the seamless, solid musical flow and astounding perfection. The "John Passion" is even more wonderful than these two works. The young singers' mellow and expressive voices are surely the key to this perfection. The Passion, including the excitement that enveloped the audience, will be presented here.
