During that time, he also appeared as a guest artist at venues across Europe, including the Salzburg Festival, performing over 70 different roles. He has frequently performed as a baritone soloist with various orchestras in works such as Beethoven’s “Ninth Symphony,” “Song of the Wayfarer,” the German Requiem, and *Carmina Burana*. He has also been actively engaged in concert activities as a leading exponent of traditional German lieder, consistently receiving strong support from audiences in Germany, the birthplace of the genre. After 17 years living in Germany, he returned to Japan in 2012 having become the first Japanese singer to be awarded the title of German Court Singer. He studied at the Tokyo University of the Arts, its graduate school, the Agency for Cultural Affairs Opera Training Institute, and the Berlin University of the Arts, under Shigeo Harada, Futoshi Katsube, Teiichi Nakayama, Hans Hotter, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, David Harper, Ubaldo Gardini, and Gisela Andreas. He is the recipient of the Goto Memorial Foundation Opera Newcomer Award and is a member of the Nikikai Opera Company. Professor at Tokyo College of Music. Executive Director of the Japan R.
