The world's foremost Elgar specialist, who also made the world premiere recording of the court masque "The Indian Crown" (CHAN 10570), presents a "new Elgar" recording of the complete incidental music "Starlight Express" composed and premiered in 1915! Starlight Express" was composed as incidental music for the stage adaptation of "The Prisoner of Fairyland" by British horror novelist Algernon Blackwood (1869-1951). For the fantastical "Express Delivery of Starlight," written at Severn House in London, the birthplace of many masterpieces, Andrew Davies used a new score published by the Elgar Society in 2010, and this is the world premiere recording of a performance based on this edition.Also recorded for the first time in the world are Clive Carey's (1883-1968) "Three Songs," which was originally commissioned as incidental music but was interrupted by World War I and never included in Elgar's edition, and Elgar's "Suite Version," arranged by Andruw Davis!
