Never has harpsichord playing been so lively and expressive! Landowska's supreme art Vanda Landowska (1879-1959) is the queen of this instrument that has revived the harpsichord in the modern age. She left many recordings on both SP and mono LP, all of which showcase her spectacular performances full of inspiration. Among them, we have compiled the 10 recordings that best represent her charm. Landowska's style is romantic, and although it is sometimes criticized by today's interpretations of ancient music, it is gripping, full of conviction and vitality that transcends such pedantic values. No wonder Faria and Poulenc composed concertos for her. This box contains the Goltberg Variations, recorded in 1933, as well as all 48 of her mean clavier pieces after her arrival in the U.S., which are not to be missed. In addition, the 20 sonatas by Scarlatti and the D minor concertos by Haydn, Handel, and Bach are all welcome, and all are excellent performances. What is even more exciting is that the final volume showcases the piano. As a pianist, he is a great-granddisciple of Chopin, and he gives an expressive performance of his specialty, Mozart.
