The MDG label's "Preziosa" series re-releases "rare" recordings of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto and Orchestral Suites, arranged by Reger and performed by the veteran German piano duo Trenkner & Speidel, two of the MDG label's leading artists. Trenkner & Speidel have previously recorded works such as "Pacific 231," "Scheherazade," "Bolero," and "Peer Gynt," as well as Bruckner's Symphony No. 3 arranged by Mahler and Mahler's "Titan" and "Resurrection" arranged by Walter. Among these, his performances of the "Brandenburg Concerto" and "Orchestral Suite" have made him the talk of the town. Max Reger, who arranged the piano version, is a great admirer of Bach, and has studied his works intensely, arranging works such as the Brandenburg Concerto, orchestral suites, and organ works. Reger's arrangements are highly theoretical, and he did not have many opportunities to perform them due to the difficulty of arranging Bach's intricate vocal parts into four hands without losing anything. In this work, each piece with various instrumentation can be heard on a single piano, and Reger's virtuosic arrangement highlights the original melody and calligraphy, which can be enjoyed together with the brilliant piano duo performance. ＜The Trenkner & Speidel Piano Duo＞Efelinde Trenkner (1933-2021) was born in Weimar, Germany. Her father was the composer and conductor Werner Trenkner (1902-1981). She studied under Walter Gieseking and Wilhelm Kemp.
