It unleashes a magnificent sonic universe created by today’s foremost soloists, who possess a deep understanding of Denihy’s music.\n\nComposer Donacha Denihy has established a unique musical world by fusing the driving force of minimalism with “spectral acoustics,” a technique developed through the scientific analysis of a sound’s harmonic components. This album features the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and conductor Ryan McAdams, an expert in contemporary music, and includes two important concertos that demonstrate Denihy’s artistic evolution.\n*Piano Concerto “Limina”* is the world premiere recording, featuring pianist Eliza McCarthy—the work’s commissioner and a musician in whom Dennehy places immense trust—as soloist. Named after the Latin word “limen” (meaning “boundary” or “threshold”), the work consists of three movements that correspond to the realms of the human body and consciousness: “Head,” “Chest,” and “Nervous System.” McCarthy’s precise and energetic touch brings to life the subtle sonic shifts and 16th-century Renaissance melodies performed by the orchestra led by McAdams, generating a tremendous pulse (pulsation) from the piano’s lowest “Gut” (viscera). The organic transformation of the sound—in which the piano drives the whole while simultaneously blending into the collective—is truly breathtaking.\nThe *Violin Concerto* is a grand concerto featuring Stephen Warts as soloist. Composed during the pandemic lockdown, this work explores the theme of a ceaseless dialogue between the “individual (soloist)” and the “mass (the orchestra as a collective).” From the cosmic expansion of overtones in the first movement, to the poignant and beautiful yearning for transcendence in the second movement—evoking the seas of his native Ireland— and the modern deconstruction of the traditional Irish dance “jig” that explodes in the third movement—all are captured in this thrilling performance, in which Warts challenges the limits of seemingly impossible virtuosity with his exceptionally refined and vibrant tone. The vibrant orchestral sound of the National Orchestra of Ireland and the dynamic interplay under McAdam’s sharp baton are simply magnificent.\nWarner Music Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Nonesuch","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53082770080033,"sku":"75597892093","price":19.95,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/75597892093.jpg?v=1785152955","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-fr\/products\/75597892093","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
