She was educated by her grandmother and parents from an early age. She studied with Mikhail Kugel at the Maastricht Conservatory of Music and has won many competitions in Europe, and is also known for her chamber music performances with Janine Jansen. The third album by such a young and remarkable violist, Dana Zemtsov, is her first recording with an orchestra. It is a collection of works for viola and orchestra written by Bartók, Brahms, Bloch, Paganini, and her teacher, Mikhail Kugel (Bloch and Paganini were also arranged by Kugel).Dana Zemtsov, who was born in Mexico to Jewish-Russian parents, studied at the French School in Norway, and grew up in the Netherlands, grew up with strong cross-cultural and multicultural influences, and shows her talent in a collection of works richly imbued with folk, cultural, and religious flavors.
