Amid the radical contemporary music movement in Palermo during the 1960s, a portrait emerges of a composer who distanced himself from dogmatic total serialism; while experimenting with the twelve-tone technique, he prioritized “singing” above all else and maintained a free approach that remained accessible to the audience. The program includes the “Rondo Burlesco for Piano and Orchestra” (1951; world premiere recording), which integrates percussive piano and burlesque elements into the classical rondo form; the “Concerto for Strings” (1968), composed in memory of R.F. Kennedy; the “Aria for Cello and Strings” (1945), which depicts the joy of survival during wartime through sustained melodies; the “Chamber Overture” (1948\/50—world premiere recording), which incorporates sonata form; “Elegy and Recitative” (1976), which weaves the sounds of Sicilian folk music into an atonal backdrop; and “Attezza (Longing)” (1997), which depicts the final moments of a death row inmate through dissonances and percussion mimicking a heartbeat. A collection of 20th-century Italian works that are both accessible and profound, reminiscent of Prokofiev and Stravinsky.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53255624786209,"sku":"5063758967259","price":14.95,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/5063758967259.jpg?v=1786765408","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-fr\/products\/5063758967259","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
