This album is a masterpiece of not only overwhelming power and technique, but also delicate expression! Alim Beysenbayev, winner of the Gold Prize at the 2021 Leeds International Piano Competition, known worldwide as a gateway to success for pianists, was born in 1998. He began playing piano in 2008 at the Moscow Central Conservatory, and two years later entered the Purcell School in the U.K., where he studied with Tessa Nicholson; in 2015 he won the Van Cliburn Junior International; in 2016 he entered the Royal Academy of Music in the U.K., where he continued his studies with Tessa Nicholson, and in 2016 made his She made her debut at the Wigmore Hall. He is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music with Vanessa Latash and Dmitry Alexeev. For this debut recording, he has recorded an ambitious work entitled Liszt: A Collection of Superlative Exercises. Alim Bazembayev seems to be a pianist who plays with powerful and gorgeous percussion as seen in photos and videos, and at the beginning of this Liszt: Super-Exercises, he explodes with a shimmering tone that does not disappoint. The powerful sound with demonic spells is exactly what you expect...and while you are convinced, you will be surprised by the contrast between the powerful blows and delicate tremolos in the second piece.Even more surprising was the third piece, in which Beyzenbaev sang the beautiful, slow melody of the Poco Adagio to his heart's content, and his versatility of expression was astounding. In the ninth piece, \"Recollection,\" and the second piece, \"Lightness,\" he showed a light touch that seemed to defy gravity, just as the title suggests. This is a young pianist who never pushes with force, but rather converses with the piano...this is the kind of young pianist that Liszt is. The sophistication and maturity of his playing has already been acclaimed by many critics. The Super Exercises are among his most challenging piano works. From an early age, I was inspired by the performance of these works by legendary pianists such as Sifra, Richter, and Kysin, but I never dreamed that one day I would be performing them myself. But like many young pianists, the challenge for me is a fascinating one,\" he said.
