This is a collection of songs written around the same time as the "Vienna Secession" movement led by Gustav Klimt, known for his sensual paintings with lots of gold leaf. The songs are diverse, ranging from works by Erich Korngold, Richard Strauss, and Alban Berg to those by female composers such as Alma Mahler and Johanna Müller-Hermann, but all of them have the profound harmony of the late Romantic period and, like Klimt's portrayal of women, are somehow dark and decadent. They all have the heavy late-Romantic harmony and a somewhat dark and decadent atmosphere, like Klimt's portrayal of women. Robin Allegra Parton, a competition-winning soprano from England, is under contract with the Münster Opera in Germany for the 2022/23 season. Simon Lepper is highly acclaimed for his song accompaniment and is in charge of the song series at Wigmore Hall. Naxos Japan
