A variety of interpretations of the depth of the enigmatic 16th-century Netherlandish music! Ratas del Viejo Mundo (Spanish for "Old World Rats") is a new generation of classical music ensemble that interprets the music of the Renaissance with a free performance style that is not bound by the conventions of the past. Ramee, an antiquarian music label that has been following their success, presents a collection of works by Josquin Baston, a composer whose name appears in many collections published in the mid-16th century but whose identity is still shrouded in mystery. The composer, who was born in the Netherlands and was probably a contemporary of Clemens Non Papa and Villalort, made his name throughout Europe and left his mark as far away as Poland. His works were occasionally included in the compilations of important composers of the early days of typography, such as Falaise and Susart, which shows the wide popularity of this composer at that time. In addition to polyphonic chansons in French, which were popular throughout the court music world of the time, the collection also includes small pieces in Flemish (Belgian Dutch) and Latin, the language of Baston's native Flanderen region.This is an album that will give you a chance to reconsider the whole music of the 16th century Netherlandish school.
