Description:
This limited-edition set combines three of ALTUS's French music titles conducted by Cluytens, including rare repertoire, and a concerto with Haskil, all in one package. The CDs are licensed from INA (Institut National de l'Audiovisuelle de France) and mastered by ALTUS. ALT-501/2] A one-day concert with the Paris Conservatory. The two Debussy pieces have never been officially recorded by Cluytens, especially "The Chosen Maiden", which is considered to be the first recording of this work in the repertoire. The Ravel piece is also interesting to compare with the previously released performance. Soprano Janine Michaux, who sings "The Chosen Maiden," is a specialist in French music, having studied at the Paris Conservatory. She has sung most of the soprano roles in famous French operas and has been active in many concerts. "The Chosen Maiden" is one of her specialties, and you can hear her beautiful singing that perfectly captures the essence of the music. ALT-503] Two concertos performed on the same day by the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and Haskil. The two concertos were performed on the same day by the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and Haskil, who played solo. The richness of expression is backed by a firm will, and the music develops in a very logical manner. The fragrant woodwinds in Mozart are also superb. Beethoven's music is even freer and more daring, and the duo produces an imposing performance that could only be achieved by this duo, steeped in core nobility. ALT-504/5] This is a rich 2-CD set focusing on French music. The little-known ballet "Jupiter's Love" was premiered at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in 1946, so to speak, and is music of its time. The music is full of modern beauty, and the strings, woodwinds, and brass are all worth listening to. The harp and percussion also play an active role in this work, which is full of the joys of modern orchestration, like a colorful fair! It is a rare opportunity to hear this masterpiece performed by Cluytens in this period. The "Symphonie fantastique" and "Pictures at an Exhibition," two of his favorites, were also performed with great pleasure, filled with the joy of new discoveries. The orchestra was full of vitality, and the musicians had excellent control over every detail of the music. The richly-colored sound palette and the fertile sound effects were a masterstroke. A masterpiece. King International
