He had been exploring time and space looking for a new dimension to hone his MC skills and eventually ended up in New York City in the 90s. He then began a sideline of fighting other MCs at open mics and small venues to raise money to repair his time machine and return to his journey. Vaudeville Villain is a concept album like no other, with MF DOOM reinventing himself as a younger, hungrier, more brash persona, exploring old and new themes from different perspectives.Of course, having developed a second self from a more technologically advanced universe, he wanted to take the same new approach in production. Hence, Viktor Vaughn raps over next-school beats that move freely between electronica and hip-hop, with production by Sound-Ink's King Honey, Heat Sensor, and Max Bill (one track by RJD2 (with the exception of one song by RJD2). Guests on the album include M. Sayyid (Anti-Pop Consortium), Lord Sear, Apani B Fly MC, and Louis Logic.
