During the Lorin Maazel period (1965-1971), her operas with Laurenger and Maazel were extremely popular. The recordings here are from Lorenger's early years in Berlin. Although Laurenger has a beautiful voice to begin with, his voice at the young age of just under 30 is truly fresh and still has a simple charm that is indescribably appealing. In addition to arias and songs, the recording includes many of his favorite Spanish songs. Most of them were recorded in later years, but some of them, such as \"O pure goddess\" from Bellini's \"Norma,\" are thought to be the only recordings of this kind.Incidentally, \"O Clean Goddess\" is a rare performance in which a harp, which is not included in the score, plays an active role.
