The remarkable Vivaldi collection "The Upside Down World" featuring Beyer & Re-Inconitie clarinets! Re-Inconitie (formed in 2006), led by Beyer, the leader of the new era of French classical music, has released a long-awaited new album of Vivaldi's symphonies, which are no longer "symphonies" but "symphonies". The long-awaited new album is a collection of concertos by Vivaldi on a scale that could almost be called a "symphony". The bright and shining tone of the violin played by Beyer reminds us of the sun in the south of France, his birthplace. The notes and passages seem to smile at you. The clarinet unison, recorder trills, sensual oboe duet, and blazing horns add to the symphony-like sound of this intimate, light ensemble that is a must-hear. The "For the Feast of St. Lorenzo," RV 556, which also features timpani, was probably composed in the mid-1720s, and is notable for its use of clarinet.The clarinet was still a new instrument at Vivaldi's time (it appeared in the early 18th century), and it is likely that Vivaldi composed this in honor of the instrument's existence in Venice (he later composed a version that did not include the clarinet). RV 572, entitled "Proteus, or the World Upside Down," which is also the title of the album, is a double concerto for violin and cello with flute, oboe, and harpsichord. The solo parts of both the violin and cello, which can be interchanged, require considerable skill. In addition, the other instruments play the same melody as the solo instruments in octave unison, a work that demands the skill of not only the soloist but also the members of the ensemble. The viola plays long, drone-like notes in this crunchy work, creating a sound of indescribable depth. The members of Re-Inconcernity, led by Beyer, play each passage with a joyful expression.
