She has selected 10 fugue pieces by various composers throughout 250 years of musical history and combined them with 10 preludes from the Mean Clavier cycle.Those selected were Wilhelm Friedemann Bach (1710-1784), Robert Schumann (1810-1856), Frederic Chopin (1810-1849), Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778-1837), French brothers Charles Valentin Alkan ( 1813-1888) \u0026amp; Napoleon Alkan (1826-1906), Russian composer Anton Arensky (1861-1910), and contemporary composer Reinhard Faber (1952-). They are as diverse as the original fugues by Bach and contrast exquisitely with Bach's preludes. Yaara Tarr explains, \"When Bach's preludes are combined with fugues by later composers, they take on the feel of their new era and complement each other with the original preludes, creating new and original musical contacts.\" Included here are four world premiere recordings, including \"Time is Flying\" by Reinhard Faber, composed specifically for this recording.
