This is a fine album that gives voice to a harmony of French and Japanese culture.\n\nMadoka Fukami, piano\nFukami studied at the Music High School attached to the Faculty of Music of the Tokyo University of the Arts and then at the university itself, before graduating from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris with a master's degree in piano, early music and chamber music, taking first prize by unanimous decision of the jury in each. She also holds the Diplôme de concertiste from the École Normale de Musique de Paris. At the suggestion of Abdel Rahman El Bacha she spent three years as artist in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium.\nShe was awarded fifth prize and the prize for the best performance of a work by Ravel at the 2015 Long-Thibaud-Crespin International Competition, was a finalist and winner of the prize for the best performance of a contemporary work at the 2017 Busoni International Competition, and received the Newcomer Prize at the 22nd Aoyama Music Awards in 2012. Praised by Maria João Pires, she gave a highly successful joint performance with her in the presence of President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa of Portugal.\nShe has appeared with the Orchestre de chambre de Paris, the Orquestra Nacional do Porto, the Orchestre Pasdeloup, the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Wallonie, the Orchestra Sinfonica Metropolitana di Bari, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Geidai Philharmonia, under conductors including Adrian Leaper, Frank Braley, Kanako Abe, Takuo Yuasa, Tomomi Nishimoto and Kosuke Tsunoda.\nHer complete Debussy piano cycle at the Yamaha Concert Salon in Ginza, presented by Yamaha Music Japan, was a considerable success, and since 2015 she has continued her series \"Composers Who Loved the Érard Piano\" at the historic Kyoto residence Hirano no Ie Waza Eieito. In 2020 she planned, produced and streamed \"Depth of Light: Art × Piano × Contemporary Music\" with the visual artist Makoto Ofune, and her world premiere of a new work by Naoki Sakata at the ROHM Theatre Kyoto was also warmly received.
