In his later years, he wrote \"Piano Sonata No. 9\" and \"Symphonic Concerto\" for cello and orchestra while battling his worsening disease. This \"Symphony No. 7\" is a nostalgic work that Prokofiev himself called a \"youth symphony,\" and although it was intended as a dedication to \"Soviet youth,\" the nostalgic melody is impressive, as if looking back on his own youth. The sweet melody of the second movement brings tears to the eyes. The closing section may end on a weak note, but Orsop chose the \"strong version\" added later to conclude the entire piece with a powerful conclusion. Also included are the \"Love for Three Oranges\" suite and the symphonic suite \"Captain Kyger\".
