Revep" is the third collaboration album by German sound artist Karsten Nicolai, aka Alva Noto, and Japanese musician Ryuichi Sakamoto, and the third installment in the <v.i.r.u.s.> (Virus) series. In this collaborative project with an impressionistic atmosphere, the two artists from different generations share the idea of electronic music as a source of inspiration for new musical structures, and have collaborated on several albums including "Vrioon" (2002), "Insen" (2005), "Revep" (2006), "Utp_" (2006), and "V.I.R.U.S." (2006). Through a series of five works, "Vrioon" (2002), "Insen" (2005), "Revep" (2006), "Utp_" (2008), and "Summvs" (2011), they explored a meditative sound world that combines rich expression, breath, and precise design, while fusing electronic and acoustic sounds.(The name <v.i.r.u.s.> is composed of the initial letters of the five albums in the series.) Their collaboration, which began with "Vrioon," revolves around a collaborative arrangement of Sakamoto's classic "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence," the theme song from the 1983 film "Merry Christmas at the Battlefield," which featured David Bowie, Takeshi Kitano, and Ryuichi Sakamoto. The piece revolves around a collaborative arrangement of Sakamoto's famous song "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence". Deeply moving in its sound world that skillfully blends beautiful piano melodies with the confusion of digital sounds, this album is considered one of the essential works of their collaboration. Three new bonus tracks on the reissue include "City Radieuse," "Veru 1," and "Veru 2. City Radieuse" was composed for "Cite' Radieuse" (2012), a tribute to Le Corbusier's architecture, one of Karsten Nicolai's "future pastperfect" series of short cinema essays.</v.i.r.u.s.></v.i.r.u.s.>

Tracklisting:

1.Siisx
2.Mur
3.ax Mr. L.
4.City Radieuse
                                                        (ボーナストラック)

Veru 1
                                                        (ボーナストラック)
6.Veru 2
                                                        (ボーナストラック)
