Limited edition. The recordings are divided into four major categories according to the cities where they were made: London, Vienna, Amsterdam, and Tel Aviv. Some recordings are being released for the first time or on CD for the first time.\n\n\n\nJoseph Klips is a conductor who was born and raised in Vienna, and was affectionately known as a native Viennese. While working as Felix Weingartner's assistant, he joined the Vienna Volksoper as a choral conductor and became the permanent conductor of the Vienna State Opera in 1933.After the war, he took the Vienna State Opera to a world-class ensemble and served as chief conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra from 1950 to 1954. Mozart was the standard for Cripps' music. Everything has to sound as if it were by Mozart,\" he said. Otherwise, it's not a good performance. This set includes Mozart symphony recordings made for Philips with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in 1972-73, including a rehearsal of Symphony No. 33. Also included is the famous \"Don Giovanni\" recorded in Vienna in 1955. Mahler's \"Ode to the Earth,\" featuring Fritz Wunderlich and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau as soloists, is a rare live recording. Weber's Overture to \"Oberon\" is a previously unreleased recording and is being released for the first time.\n\n\n\nThe booklet includes rare photos of the Cripps in Amsterdam and a detailed essay on the Cripps legacy by Niek Nerissen.
