This work includes the remaining 24 pieces that were not included in the first volume (CHAN20252\/Record Geijutsu International Review \"Special Disc of the Month\"), \"Strict Variations,\" Mendelssohn's greatest solo piano piece, the \"Summer Rose Fantasy,\" which was very popular at the time, and Rachmaninov's \"Summer Night's Dream\" scherzo. The piano arrangement of Rachmaninoff's Scherzo from \"A Dream of a Summer Night\" is also included. (He holds Rachmaninoff's transcriptions in very high esteem, especially this scherzo, which he considers a masterpiece.) The mute songs are performed in the same order as in the previous work, composed by Donohoe himself. Peter Donohoe, who has a unique background as a percussionist in his youth, studied piano in Paris with Yvonne Loriot and Olivier Messiaen, and won a prize at the 1981 Leeds International Competition and the highest prize at the 1982 Tchaikovsky International Competition.
