Poredouris intended to score the film as an action film, but Verhoeven wanted music that would provide a realistic backdrop for the characters' experiences. As a result, Poredouris focused on creating a sense of excitement, passion, and sadness. This 2LP deluxe edition features new album art reminiscent of the pulp SF paperback books of the 1960s, and is the first time the score has been released on vinyl. Also included are liner notes by musician Zoe Poredulis, daughter of director and composer Paul Verhoeven.A fold-out poster is also enclosed. Basil Poledouris is an American composer, conductor, and orchestrator of film and television music, best known for his long-term collaborations with directors John Milius and Paul Verhoeven.
