Because of his talent, he received numerous patronages, including Queen Christina of Sweden and Cardinal Ottoboni (Pope Alexander VIII), and was treated exceptionally well for a musician.\n\n\n\nAs a composer, Corelli's most important achievement was the establishment of the trio sonata, a fundamental form of Baroque music, and his works, with their perfect harmony of three voices, are known to have reached far beyond Europe and into Asia. The Violin Sonatas, Op. 5, published in 1700, the Holy Year, were re-released again and again, and quickly became a huge hit.Corelli's works have had a tremendous influence on the music of his contemporaries such as Vivaldi, Bach, and Handel, as well as subsequent music up to the present day.\n\n\n\nA perfectionist, Corelli's strict aesthetic sense extended to his own works, and although he published only six collections of music, four trio sonatas (Op. 1-4), a violin sonata (Op. 5), and an ensemble concerto (Op. 6), each of these works is a masterpiece of polished perfection.
