Mass No. 3 was composed in 1867-1868, just before Bruckner emigrated to Vienna, and then revised intermittently in the 1870s, 1880s, and even into the 1890s. It is a moving, large-scale work filled with religious piety, but at the same time, it is a difficult work that is just as difficult to put together as the earlier symphonies. The four soloists and the Bavarian Radio Chorus also do exactly what Ticciati intends.
