In the fourth volume, *Visions Beyond Estonia*, as the title suggests, the program features works based on ancient songs from the regions surrounding Estonia. These include the *Bulgarian Trilogy*, based on Bulgarian folk songs; *Bilina of Northern Russia*, for male chorus and solo voice; and *Rhapsody of National Friendship*, commissioned by the Estonian National Male Choir to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Soviet Union. The text for *The Words of Wisdom of Väinämöinen* was drawn from the Finnish lyric poetry collection *Kanteletar*. *Winter in Vepsia* is one of Tormis’s most representative works for male chorus.
