His Symphony No. 10 \"Amerindia\" is a magnificent cantata composed in 1954 for the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the founding of São Paulo. The piece evokes Brazilian sentimentalism with its often violent rhythms, wild sounds, and sometimes subtlety, and has a colorful and flamboyant aspect. Villa-Lobos's symphonies up to No. 9 are basically orthodox, with no unusual instruments or unconventionality, and are regarded as \"quiet\" and rarely performed among his works. However, No. 10 is an exceptional work, and the diversity and eclecticism of its style will be seen by the listener as something very unique. The score has two subtitles ... \"Amerindia\" and \"Sume, Father of Fathers (Mythological Characters)\" ... described as not like Beethoven's 9th, but like Mahler's 8th or Janacek's Glagolmisa. This is a wonderful work that encompasses a variety of events. Please enjoy it.
