The Italian-language opera \"The Maid,\" which was taken up by the Paris Opera (Royal Academy of Music Opera) in 1752, was met with fierce opposition from Rameau and others who wanted to develop France's own music, as well as great critical acclaim from the Encyclopédie school. The fierce confrontation between the two factions was known as the \"Buffon Controversy,\" and was recorded in the history of music. In the midst of this, in order to let people know the appeal of Pergolesi's music without preconceptions, lawyer Bolland translated the libretto and produced a French version of \"The Maid's Maid\" in 1754. The recitative was omitted except for the orchestrated parts, which were replaced by dialogue. The playwright and singer Favard and his wife had the previous year produced \"The Love of Bastien and Bastienne,\" a parody of a pastoral opera in French, which was a counterpart to \"The Maidservant.Mozart, who later had the opportunity to meet the French troupe in Austria, composed music based on the German libretto and completed the Zingspiel in one act (K. 50) in 1768. The French literary critic Wili and the writer Altman created the French version at the end of the 19th century. The ancient instrumental ensemble assembled at the Palace of Versailles has recorded the French versions of these two works with three talented singers. Gaëtan Jari, who excels in the performance of French Baroque works, brings out the best in the scripts and brings out the elegant musical charms that were not apparent in the native languages of the two composers, reminding us of the depth of 18th century music.
