The program begins with Irving Berlin’s title track and concludes with Ornette Coleman’s “Lonely Woman.” Along the way, it features original compositions by Duni and Luft, traditional music from Kosovo, a lullaby penned by the Persian singer Mahsa Vahdat, ballads by Italian singer-songwriter Pino Daniele, the art song “Les Berceaux” by French composer Gabriel Fauré, and themes from film scores by Japan’s Shigeru Umebayashi and Poland’s Krzysztof Komeda.\n\n“Our duo, this project, is a musical journey,” says Elina. “To bridge the gaps between people through different styles and languages.” Denis’s witty expressiveness as a singer harmonizes beautifully with Luft’s exceptional playing technique. As a guitarist, Luft moves seamlessly between various musical styles, gently enveloping the melodies, highlighting the emotions embedded in the lyrics, and enhancing the atmosphere of the songs. *Reaching for the Moon* was recorded in June 2025 at Studio La Buissonne in southern France.
