Here, they boldly incorporate period performance practices, such as meticulous articulation in the strings, as well as period-style trumpets, horns, trombones, and timpani. While his interpretation was extremely orthodox during his guest appearance with the NHK Symphony Orchestra in January 2009, in this performance with the Tonhalle—nearly 20 years after he became its chief conductor in 1995—Zinman’s interpretation is realized more thoroughly in every respect, including the repetitions. This masterpiece, into which Schubert poured his very soul, has been cleansed of its past grime and revived with a fresh, crystalline sound. A comparison with the Hengelbrock + NDR recording I mentioned the other day is also quite interesting.\nSony Music\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"RCA Red Seal","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53595645018401,"sku":"886979739826","price":22.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/886979739826.jpg?v=1790482095","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-ec\/products\/886979739826","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
