Tracing the history of unaccompanied cello works! A collection of unaccompanied works by Josecu Obregón, founder of La Ritilata! A musical journey from Domenico Gabrielli to J.S. Bach! The Accademia Filarmonica, a musical institution founded in Bologna in 1666, contributed greatly to the development of the violin and cello. Joséchu Obregón believes that the cellist and composer Domenico Gabrielli, a member of the Accademia Filarmonica, composed the first unaccompanied cello works. The recording is interspersed with dances from Bach's \"Suite for Unaccompanied Cello,\" with unaccompanied works by six composers, up to Keten, for whom he composed the majority of his works. Born in Bilbao, Spain, cellist Josétu Obregón studied cello, chamber music, and conducting in Spain and the Netherlands, and studied baroque cello at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague with Anner Bylsma. He regularly gives concerts not only in Europe but also in the U.S. and Asia, and has founded a period ensemble, La Ritilata, which is active worldwide in the field of ancient music.
