Spohr's Works for Violin and Harp! This is a lovely CD. It is a collection of four works for violin and harp by Louis Choupois (1784-1859). The violin is played in period technique with Gadagnini, and the harp was made by Jacob Ellatt in England around 1800, with a single action pedal and ring action.41 A 41-string harp with a single action pedal and ring action was used. Although less flamboyant than today's common instruments, it is more intimate, giving the audience the feeling of listening to a performance in a relaxed salon setting. Alparra is an unusual duo of a period violin and harp. The violinist, Davide Monti, is an Italian violinist. He is a virtuoso who has participated in various period performance groups. Maria Christina Cleary is an Irish harpist.They have previously released a Spohr CD (STR 33848) and two others (STR 33881,STR 37023).
