He wrote a Latin Mass at age 13, and his opera Telemaco de la isla de Calypso, composed at 18, enjoyed success with 15 performances. However, the turbulent times—the Spanish invasion during the Napoleonic Wars (1808), the French occupation and rule of Spain (1808-1813\/approx. 5 years), and the French defeat in the Spanish War of Independence (1813)—created an increasingly uncomfortable environment for Sor, whose paternal lineage was French. Consequently, after leaving Spain in 1813 at age 35, he never returned. He spent the final 26 years of his life: Paris (1813-1815\/approx. 2 years) → London (1815-1823\/approx. 8 years) → Moscow (1823-1826\/approx. 3 years)→ Various locations (1826-1827\/approx. 1 year)→ Paris (1827-1839\/approx. 12 years). This album contains works published during Sol's Paris period, considered his mature phase and the time he lived there longest.For musicians, society and salons held great significance, and works by Sol in his late forties also feature appealing content—pleasant yet sprinkled with operatic material.\n\n\n\nThis recording includes the \"Three Salon Pieces\" Op. 33, dedicated to the female guitarist Pauline Athénée; the \"Three Salon Pieces\" Op. 36, dedicated to Mr. Pastu; and the \"Eight Pieces\" Op. 24, without a specific dedication.\n\n\n\nPerformed by Italian guitarist Leonardo de Marchi (born 1989) with the customary prelude, following the practice of the composer's time. The booklet notes are also written by him. Recorded between April 2024 and March 2025 at the Virtual Studio in Treviso, near Venice, northern Italy.\n\n\n\nCD running time is approximately 66 minutes. The case is a 10mm thick polystyrene jewel case. The booklet (English, 8 pages) includes liner notes by performer Leonardo De Marchi. Made in the EU, the disc is manufactured by Germany's Optimal Media, a label familiar to major labels.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Brilliant Classics","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":52232473805089,"sku":"5063758973953","price":16.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/5063758973953.jpg?v=1768855057","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-ec\/products\/5063758973953","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
