Excellent recording!\n\n\n\nFriedrich Gulda's masterpieces recorded by the DECCA label in 1970 and the following year at the Zofiensaal, the bicentennial year of Beethoven's birth, are now available on SA-CD with the latest mastering on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his death in 2025. Commercially, an SA-CD single layer was released in 2016, and this masterpiece was also released on a SA-CD hybrid disc separately planned by an audio manufacturer. The master selection for this reissue was based on discussions with production personnel and engineers, who determined that the best master was the one converted to DSD from the analog master tapes previously released commercially in the United Kingdom, and mastered at Classic Sound in the UK. Mastering techniques and software are constantly evolving, so we aimed for the best possible sound quality at the present time.\n\n\n\nCompared to Goulda's later style of playing, this recording may be said to be a performance in which the emphasis was placed on the old traditions.Since its release, this Beethoven performance has certainly been controversial, and it can be assumed that this is due to the fact that it was performed with the prestigious Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and Gulda's thoughts on the recording, but the actual performance also has glimpses of Gulda's unique sensibility, and it can be said that the recording is not necessarily traditional in all respects. In a sense, it can be said that the recording is not entirely traditional. The eloquence of Stein and the Vienna Philharmonic in the background, which is not overshadowed by the insistence of the piano, gives the impression of a confrontation rather than a concerto, making this recording interesting in many ways. However, in addition to the excellence of the recording, it can be said that the entire performance is in harmony at a high level, and it is a rare source that stands out among the many recordings of Beethoven's piano concertos, which is why it is one of Gulda's most representative recordings and one of the most popular masterpieces of the whole. The previous recordings of the same piece by DECCA and the Vienna Philharmonic were made by Backhaus and Iserstedt with a very German solidity, so Gulda's performance, which is not in the same direction, shines even more brightly.With this latest reissue, we hope to see a new aspect of the company's reputation in addition to the traditional one.\n\n(1\/2)\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Tower Records Universal Vintage Sa-Cd Collection","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":50991498166561,"sku":"4988031753422","price":57.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4988031753422.jpg?v=1742719337","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-ec\/products\/4988031753422","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
