The quartet has deep ties to Japan: first violinist Jonatan Masaki Schwarz and cellist Lucas Minoru Schwarz are brothers with a Japanese mother, while Dutch-born Mayu Konoe, who plays viola, is the great-grandson of Hidemaro Konoe. The quartet won the first prize at the London Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition and the Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition in 2022, and have received many other awards. He has recently signed a contract with Alpha and will release his first album on the theme of early 20th century Viennese music and its influences.
