This disc presents a well-balanced selection of church music and secular works for the court, including works that have survived as instrumental pieces and instrumental arrangements of vocal pieces, in an attempt to decipher the fascination of Banschois' works from various perspectives, in which the archaic content of medieval courtly love songs is juxtaposed with exquisite polyphony.
